Phase 4 Concrete Paving Starting Today!
3/20/23
Through the past few weeks, you may have seen rebar taking shape for the concrete paving on Phase 4 of Hilltop Road. Today, the concrete paving operation is starting. We ask that you please plan for delays as we pave concrete. Due to the limited right-of-way, we are required to dump concrete from trucks stopped in the travel lane. Please add 20 or 30 minutes on to your daily commute this week. The traffic slowdown is only expected to last through this week.
As soon as we have this half of Phase 4 fully paved and concrete cured, we will be putting traffic onto the new concrete, similar to how we did in Phase 3. We understand that the current temporary driving lane can be rough at times. Please know that we spend time daily repairing the current road so that residential traffic can still get through.
Details on the Phase 3 & 4 work and traffic detours can be found below in the post dated 11/2/22 and titled "Phases 3 & 4 Starting Soon!" (CLICK HERE FOR POST)
We appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding as we work to complete Hilltop Road as quickly and safely as possible.
Phase 3 Concrete Paving Starting Soon!
2/13/23
Weather pending, we are scheduled to begin the concrete paving for Phase 3, heading North from the Old Alton/Hilltop Road intersection on Thursday (2/16). This operation is expected to last through the end of February. Similar to Phases 1 & 2, we ask that you please plan for delays as we pave concrete. Due to the limited right-of-way, we are required to dump concrete from trucks stopped in the travel lane. Please add 20 or 30 minutes on to your daily commute over the next couple of weeks.
As soon as we have half of a phase fully paved and concrete cured, we will be putting traffic onto the new concrete. We understand that the current temporary driving lane can be rough at times. Please know that we spend time daily repairing the current road so that residential traffic can still get through Phases 3 & 4.
Looking forward (weather depending) we anticipate putting Phase 3 traffic on new concrete by March 10th. Additionally for Phase 4, we anticipate putting traffic on new concrete by March 31st. Please continue to bear with us, as we are working as quickly as possible to get traffic off the old road and on the new, wider concrete pavement.
Details on the Phase 3 & 4 work and traffic detours can be found below in the post dated 11/2/22 and titled "Phases 3 & 4 Starting Soon!" (CLICK HERE FOR POST)

Phase 3 Ongoing & Phase 4 Starting Soon
1/13/23
This week, work began on Phase 3 of Hilltop Road. Currently, the earthwork operation is taking place, where we are establishing the subgrade elevation for the new road. By the end of next week, we will begin the Cem-Lime subgrade treatment, which is expected to take approximately 6 days. During this operation, individual driveway access will be restricted temporarily while the following items take place:
-
Current driveway access removed
-
Cem-Lime slurry placed
-
Cem-Lime mixed with mixing machine
-
Cem-Lime graded to final elevation
-
Driveway access restored
Starting on 1/24/23 (approximately), Phase 4 will be closed to one-way Northbound traffic only, similar to the way Phase 3 is currently set up. At that point, Phase 4 residents will transition to temporary gang mailboxes located at Macaway Road, along with the Phase 3 temporary mailboxes currently in place. 12/2/22 Update - Two-Way Traffic Between Hickory Hill Rd & FM 407
On Monday, December 5th (12/5), Hilltop Road will be opened to two-way traffic from FM 407 to the Hickory Hill intersection. The road will not be fully striped yet so please be alert. Hilltop road is only one lane, each direction, with an outside shoulder. Temporary tabs will be placed at the FM 407 intersection to help direct traffic. At the FM 407 intersection, Hilltop is only one lane in both directions. There will not be a left turn lane and right turn lane.
Hilltop Road will remain one-way Southbound from Hickory Hill Rd to Old Alton Rd for a few weeks. Stay posted for news on that section being opened up to two-way traffic.
On 11/2, we had posted that phases 3 & 4 would be starting soon. We are waiting to move into those phases until two-way traffic is established all the way from FM 407 through Old Alton Road.
As always, we thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to build Hilltop Road as quickly and safely as possible.

Hilltop Road from Old Alton Road up to FM 1830 will begin construction in the next few weeks! This area is split into two phases.
-
Phase 3: Hilltop Rd from Old Alton Rd to Macaway Rd
-
Phase 4: Hilltop Rd from Macaway Rd to FM 1830
Although utility work and tree clearing has been taking place in these areas for the last several weeks, the heavy construction will begin in Phase 3 after Thanksgiving. Phase 3 will be under construction solely for a couple of weeks, and then Phase 4 will also begin construction, in tandem with Phase 3. See below for a breakdown of several different construction related topics.
Mailboxes
During construction, all residents with mailboxes along Hilltop Road will have a temporary mailbox located on Macaway Rd near the intersection of Hilltop Rd. This is being done at the request of the Argyle US Post Office for safety and consistency. The Spring Acres neighborhood mailboxes will remain in place throughout construction and will not be affected. When the time comes for your temporary mailbox to start being used, notice will be provided via your current mailbox. We ask that you please continually check your mail so that everyone is prepared for the start of the temporary mailboxes. Once construction is complete in your phase, all mailboxes will return to their location along the new Hilltop Road.

Detours
Phase 3
During Phase 3 of construction, traffic will be one-way Northbound only on Hilltop Road from Old Alton Rd to Macaway Rd. Two different detour options will be in place. See the image to the right. The blue arrows and yellow arrows are the two detours to get to the South end of the closure (Old Alton/Hilltop Rd). The yellow arrow route is FM 1830 to E Hickory Hill Rd, to Hilltop Rd. The blue arrow route is FM 1830 to Hickory Creek Rd, to Teasley Ln, to Old Alton Rd, to Hilltop Rd. This Phase 3 closure and detour will be in place from after Thanksgiving through March/April.

Detours
Phase 4
A few weeks into Phase 3 construction, Phase 4 will begin and work simultaneous with Phase 3. In Phase 4 (like Phase 3), traffic will be one-way Northbound only on Hilltop Road from Macaway Rd to FM 1830. While both Phases 3 & 4 are under construction, Hilltop Rd will be one-way Northbound from Old Alton Rd all the way to FM 1830. Two different detour options will be in place. See the image to the right. The purple arrows and green arrows are the two detours to get to the South end of the closure (Old Alton/Hilltop Rd). The purple arrow route is FM 1830 to E Hickory Hill Rd, to Hilltop Rd. The green arrow route is FM 1830 to Hickory Creek Rd, to Teasley Ln, to Old Alton Rd, to Hilltop Rd. This Phase 4 closure and detour will be in place from mid-December through June/July.

Once the one-way closures are in place, we ask that you please follow the detours and inform any visitors you may have to be aware of the construction, detours, and potential delays in place.
As always, we appreciate your understanding as we work to complete construction on Hilltop Road as quickly and safely as possible. Any questions or concerns may be directed to hilltop@ddmcc.net.

8/15/22 Update - Concrete Paving Delays
Starting Tuesday of this week (8/15), concrete paving will begin on Hilltop Road heading South from Old Alton Rd to E Hickory Hill Rd. Access to thru traffic from Old Alton Rd to E Hickory Hill Rd will be denied; only residents, buses, and business customers will be allowed in the work zone on paving days. During paving days, please plan for construction traffic up to 30 mins while driving down Hilltop Road between Old Alton Rd and E Hickory Hill Rd. While paving Hilltop, concrete trucks will have to briefly stop in the lane of travel to dump concrete into the work zone side of the road.
This paving between Old Alton Rd and E Hickory Hill Rd is anticipated to last for two weeks (through the end of August). DDM Construction will do all we can to minimize delays during pouring days, however we encourage all drivers to seek alternate routes unless access into the closure is necessary. 7/26/22 Update - Concrete Paving Delays
As of today (7/26), the machine paving will be complete on half of Hilltop from E Hickory Hill Rd to FM 407. Starting Thursday, July 28th, concrete hand pours will begin, filling gaps that were skipped by the machine due to leaving access for certain residents and businesses. Spring Creek Dr will be included in Thursday's (7/28) concrete pour. Spring Creek Dr will be re-opened to Lantana traffic no later than the following Friday (8/5). While closed, please use Bentson Dr or Branch Crossing as access.
DDM Construction appreciates the understanding as traffic delays are caused on Hilltop due to the concrete paving. We continue to encourage all drivers to seek alternate routes unless access onto Hilltop Rd is necessary. As always, we thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to build Hilltop Road as quickly and safely as possible.
