Phase 3 Concrete Paving Starting Soon!

2/13/23

Weather pending, we are scheduled to begin the concrete paving for Phase 3, heading North from the Old Alton/Hilltop Road intersection on Thursday (2/16). This operation is expected to last through the end of February. Similar to Phases 1 & 2, we ask that you please plan for delays as we pave concrete. Due to the limited right-of-way, we are required to dump concrete from trucks stopped in the travel lane. Please add 20 or 30 minutes on to your daily commute over the next couple of weeks.

As soon as we have half of a phase fully paved and concrete cured, we will be putting traffic onto the new concrete. We understand that the current temporary driving lane can be rough at times. Please know that we spend time daily repairing the current road so that residential traffic can still get through Phases 3 & 4.

Looking forward (weather depending) we anticipate putting Phase 3 traffic on new concrete by March 10th. Additionally for Phase 4, we anticipate putting traffic on new concrete by March 31st. Please continue to bear with us, as we are working as quickly as possible to get traffic off the old road and on the new, wider concrete pavement.

Details on the Phase 3 & 4 work and traffic detours can be found below in the post dated 11/2/22 and titled "Phases 3 & 4 Starting Soon!" (CLICK HERE FOR POST)

We appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding as we work to complete Hilltop Road as quickly and safely as possible.

Phase 3 Ongoing & Phase 4 Starting Soon

1/13/23

This week, work began on Phase 3 of Hilltop Road. Currently, the earthwork operation is taking place, where we are establishing the subgrade elevation for the new road. By the end of next week, we will begin the Cem-Lime subgrade treatment, which is expected to take approximately 6 days. During this operation, individual driveway access will be restricted temporarily while the following items take place:

  1. Current driveway access removed

  2. Cem-Lime slurry placed

  3. Cem-Lime mixed with mixing machine

  4. Cem-Lime graded to final elevation

  5. Driveway access restored

Starting on 1/24/23 (approximately), Phase 4 will be closed to one-way Northbound traffic only, similar to the way Phase 3 is currently set up. At that point, Phase 4 residents will transition to temporary gang mailboxes located at Macaway Road, along with the Phase 3 temporary mailboxes currently in place. Details on the Phase 4 work and traffic detours can be found below in the post dated 11/2/22 and titled "Phases 3 & 4 Starting Soon!" (CLICK HERE FOR POST)

8/15/22 Update - Concrete Paving Delays

Starting Tuesday of this week (8/15), concrete paving will begin on Hilltop Road heading South from Old Alton Rd to E Hickory Hill Rd. Access to thru traffic from Old Alton Rd to E Hickory Hill Rd will be denied; only residents, buses, and business customers will be allowed in the work zone on paving days. During paving days, please plan for construction traffic up to 30 mins while driving down Hilltop Road between Old Alton Rd and E Hickory Hill Rd. While paving Hilltop, concrete trucks will have to briefly stop in the lane of travel to dump concrete into the work zone side of the road.

This paving between Old Alton Rd and E Hickory Hill Rd is anticipated to last for two weeks (through the end of August). DDM Construction will do all we can to minimize delays during pouring days, however we encourage all drivers to seek alternate routes unless access into the closure is necessary. As of today (7/26), the machine paving will be complete on half of Hilltop from E Hickory Hill Rd to FM 407. Starting Thursday, July 28th, concrete hand pours will begin, filling gaps that were skipped by the machine due to leaving access for certain residents and businesses. Spring Creek Dr will be included in Thursday's (7/28) concrete pour. Spring Creek Dr will be re-opened to Lantana traffic no later than the following Friday (8/5). While closed, please use Bentson Dr or Branch Crossing as access.

DDM Construction appreciates the understanding as traffic delays are caused on Hilltop due to the concrete paving. We continue to encourage all drivers to seek alternate routes unless access onto Hilltop Rd is necessary. As always, we thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to build Hilltop Road as quickly and safely as possible.
